The new finish is tricky and exciting. It really makes for great racing.

Just a tip for all of you fellow smaller guys who can get up the hill fast.

Do not drag the bigger guys up. The hill is flat enough that drafting still matters a lot. So some crafty old man like Yacks can take a free ride on your wheel to the top and then blast you in the last 500m.

Point being, if you're on the front last time up the hill, you better be in it to DROP people and keep going.

Otherwise, let the fact that you can get up the hill well mean that you have fresher legs once it flattens out, and play your cards the best you can.
Dear Ryan,
...keep your opinions to yourself.
Sincerely,
Crafty old man
@JP Are those crocodile tears? #mugwumpturkeyshoot
I may try roll over to Brooklyn to help out... 6:20am start!?
Perhaps we can have a Manhattan meet up @ Tavern?

Haven't heard a peep from the women's team, what's the deal? Come in Kayt.
I also vote for a handicap race for KCC women, so we avoid the inevitable 1st lap burn off.

Oh, and this is the kind of move you can expect from crafty old Yaks:

Determination should be expected....

You're riding over but not racing?  And you want to go early?  I'm heading out for a session behind the motor right now but I'll try to figure out timing if you want to ride that early.  I was thinking of leaving my place at 5:!5, but that doesn't leave much room for socializing.
At the hospital...been here since 10 pm with my wife who was having severe stomach pains...seems to have sorted itself out...haven't been discharged yet though...have a nice race everyone...I even put on my race skewers = u were all fucked if I showed.
What u weren't ?
^Ugh. Not the race report I was looking for!
Rigby is our new crowned king.
Mr Yack. Sorry to hear about your wife.
Sorry Chris, hope all is well.

Fun small race and a rare privilege for me to compete with our upper category strong men. Ultimately, Brendan proves that winning the overall yellow at L&C series this year was no fluke. Congrats to him!
This is HOT news !
Nice job
Go Pro ???
Rigby had one.
GoPro didn't record the last .5 lap, random?  Maybe because I hit a mega pothole during the finish and almost fell over.  The last wheel in front of me before it shut off was JP's.  Perhaps it was too much hair for the camera to handle?

We are all champions for coming out today.  Small field!  Unfortunately we were neutralized 2 or so times which made things a little less interesting at the end (one neutral period came with 1 to go).  Solid attacks by Yang, Dale, and others kept things lively.  Somehow Vlad completed the race without shearing any metal apart.

Yacks, she'll be fine.  It's just food poisoning.  I cut the power cord to your fridge in an effort to sabotage you and keep you from the race.  Apparently I underestimated your own stomach's ability to cope.  (obviously what I mean by this is that I hope your wife is feeling better)
The mrs is going to be ok...
Blue morning...never left the porch..Le sigh...at least I have the er bill to look forward to.
congrats, Brendan!!

Sorry to hear about the hospital visit Yaks, hope all is well.
Congratulations Brendan. Awesome job.
KUNG - POW !!!

Get that kid an orange helmet...
Kablooie! New champ in town - who needs an orange helmet when you have.... Wait for it... Orange SHOES!!!
I owe it all to Jeff Condon, unmentioned above, who provided a perfect leadout.

Malcolmson, excellent composition on that photo.  I see that as "figure a" in a textbook explaining the rule of thirds.  It's like you went to art school or something...
Too bad about not recording that last bit, wanted to see my last ditch flyer up the hill fail spectacularly.
The mysterious loss of data can be attributed to one factor: Christopher Yacks.  "In the ER all night"?  Unlikely.  "My wife"?  Untrue.  "Stomach pains"?  Conveniently fleeting.  In truth, he worked Santa's hours to ensure that we would have no record of yet another non-sprint-event that he didn't win (I'm going for the double negative jersey with that sentence).  I woke up to find that my GoPro wasn't where I left it last night...

David, your last lap flyer didn't fail at all.  Judge your attacks by the response.  You dragged out, among others, JP, Vlad, Jeff C., and me.  Your move went as well as any move can in a field that contains only a dozen people, all of whom who were neutralized with 2 to go.  JP sat up at the end of his pull, perhaps because he realized how long the distance is from the top of the hill to the finish if you're going full gas, but Jeff. C. attacked and I followed him.  Jeff's is a good wheel for a leadout, as I learned last year before he upgraded.  Skinny people make for good leadouts.

Scroll up and see Ryan telling you (loosely translated) that if you're going to attack on the hill with the new finish, you need to be with it until the end.  I'm not sure what a normal human is supposed to do.  No way could I hold it from the middle of the hill to the new finish.  Anyway, you did objectively well and you are a lot stronger than last year.  I know because you've always been in my category.  You win.

Obviously if Malcolmson had raced it would have been different.  Will he ever heal?!
Brendan...you scoundrel...suggesting I employ my wife in some kind of ruse to avoid your seismic sprint ?  Scurrilous Sir !!!  Your accusation is a slippery slope...maybe you are right...maybe I wasn't in the E.R.  Care to pay my bill when it arrives?  I believe you and I are locked in a  Mexican "track " stand off.   The next move is yours porcupine, move wisely.
