I concede defeat to the Honorable Christopher Yacks.  That his family be healthy and his wheels be true.
CONGRATS, Brendan! You'll have some new threads coming your way in honor of the most important victory of your entire life -- assuming you haven't beaten a murder rap.

To be completely honest, I would have preferred to be at this race rather than crash the shit out of myself at Gloucester. I'll keep that in mind for 2015, but hopefully I won't have to trouble myself with such a decision on next year's calendar.

(@yacks: Please adjust the angle of your pink quick release skewer for the kids.)

Where's Brendan in that group picture?
Why is everyone's head so strange in that photo?

He's pretty hard to find, but if you look carefully you'll see him.

Seriously, something looks weird, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

I know it's early-ish, and it's a bunch of work, but will the KCC champs race be coming back this year?
Please say yes....
fantastic yes
We're using this weekend's Fall Classic in Prospect Park as our official club champs. In lieu of holding our own scratch race in 2017 and with the aim of making it somewhat fair (sorry Cat 5s), we're awarding jerseys for the first Kissena riders in the Cat 4 and 1/2/3 fields. Each jersey must have minimum two contestants in order to produce a winner. Jerseys are:
- Women's Club Champ
- Cat 4 Club Champ
- Men's P/1/2/3 club champ

FYI Brendan Rigby is our reigning club champ.

KISSENA FALL CLASSIC Prospect Park, this Saturday, October 7
P/1/2/3 start first at 6:40am

P.S. Charlie will need reg volunteers (you race for free) contact him directly charlesissendorf@gmail.com for details.

I'll be there.

Good morning all,

I will be participating in my first race this Saturday at the Fall Classic.  However, I am without a Kissena Jersey (eagerly waiting for the September order).  Is there a chance someone would be willing to loan a size Large?  I will personally wash it with Tide Mountain Breeze post-race, I promise. Thank you!

Erik
Erik - I think I have one for you.

Please shoot me a text this evening to remind me to look - 917.922.0812.

I will be working reg so if confirmed you can grab it from me there.
How will it work for females? Should they race with the guys?
When I asked about it earlier in the year it was that you race with the respective Cat. I am a cat 4, if I was racing this weekend, I would be racing with the 4's.
@ChristinaWoolston cool. not sure Tess will race, but you should try to convince her!
I'm probably going to get flack for posting this instead of texting offline but kind of wanted it to be seen by the gang.

More experienced members can attest to what its like to race a mens cat 5 race, as can you. But as a female I can say that Mens Cat 5 racing is very different than a Women's 4/5 field. I raced one road race in CT this summer with a relatively small mens field and found it terrifying, at that point I had 3 crits and 5 road races under my belt so felt pretty confident that I could stay upright and hang with the pack.

I'm all for jumping head first into racing and events where I'm not overly confident that I'll excel at, but always consider safety. If this is her first race ever, it might not be the best idea. And looking at race predictor, it looks like this race will be the first one for over half the field. If I was still a 5 and if I was racing this, I'd probably only do it if I knew I could count on a steady wheel or two or a KCC teammate.

Who is joining me in the 1/2/3?

Condon?  Donovan?  Rigby?  Yack?
I may wet my beak...

I can't make it, unfortunately. Which also means I can't volunteer to help Charlie at registration. Who's going to take my place?
i'm volunteering. i have lots of funny jokes that i'll tell if others are willing to join me...
I'll be there for registration - lay 'em on me Kalbacker.
What time should I be there if I can volunteer?
Charlie said 515am
can we get a confirmation on the start time ?  the bikereg says 6:40
Charlie emailed me that he could still use more help with registration. If you’re racing, please pitch in at 5:15.

If if you’re not racing, charlie will credit you for another one of his races in the spring.

Email him him to let him know.

Thanks!

Have fun and good luck to you all. Reminds me of the tour where you often see a race within a race. I am curious how it will play out.
Damn, can't even make it to the race to spectate.
i also won't be there tomorrow, best of luck to all!
JP got me on the hill...
You can all thank JP for sparing you an entire years worth of smack talk that was sure to ensue
