Primoz Roglic Explains Exactly How He Lost Paris-Nice

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd8BimB1y2U

Do we have a Paris Nice thread?
Obviously Primoz won the Vuelta last year, and who knows how many races/stages, so he can totally deliver. Someone should ask, however, about theories of self sabotage.  :#

Some argue, and they are correct, that we are living in a golden era of cycling. Just that I remember the last golden era, and don't like the parallels.
this could be us, but you playin'

Nope; it’s the 3 kids.
haha, are you suggesting this is how the Roazens operate?

Apparently we're not alone

Unrelated after sleeping on it I really think Roglic's Stage 7 was super ugly.

I don't love that.

I do have a crush on Sam Bennet, he bonked big time, not sure what was going on, but it was obvious that the team knew and had no confidence he would reach the finish the line with that group.

It was amazing how well that front group worked together. Big time pros.

Caveats for doping.
the ride from Nathan Van Hooydonck was super impressive , the mini attack that dropped Bennett and then when he nullified Stephan Kung’s attack

I don't know if anyone could have beaten Van Aert with Van Hooydonck present, but Nizzolo made a big mistake in trying to close down Kung's attack.  I think that effectively cost him, and possibly others, the race.
I am really enjoying rooting for WVA. For a once-in-a-generation talent he sure is easy to view as an underdog and root for.
Yah, no question the combo of Wout and Van Hooydonck was totally lethal. But basically everyone in that group is a hardcore racer.

Sidenote: much like Van der Poel,
Nathan Van Hooydonck comes from a cycling family. His dad, Edwig, won a few classics, including Flanders in the 80s, fwiw Edwig was known for a relatively strong stance against doping.

We also have Edwig to thank for knee warmers and/or knickers.

I think he cut off some leg warmers just below the knee and rode them to second Flanders victory.  (and did it on SunTour components, no less)

i Loved those shifters
ah, so much sharp in that photo!

That's right, legend was he had some knee pain/discomfort and asked the clothing company if they could make him a few shorts longer past the knee!
Isn't Edwig his uncle?
oh you’re right! had to use the googles, but yeah, Edwig Van Hooydonck is Nathan's uncle!

Nathan’s dad is Gino Van Hooydonck, who was too a pro cyclist, albeit a bit less successful, pretty hardcore classics rider too.

^ I love that the hairnet helmet strap is tighter than most modern helmets are worn. CLINCH EVERYTHING DOWN TIGHT
