I love this because when it comes right down to it - it's the mind games we play with ourselves that result in the training. These don't get highlighted enough.

I was in a Trek bike shop in Charlottesville, VA today and they had Ben King’s 2010 US Road Championship winning Trek. The winner the year before Ben was our own George Hincapie

You mean the guy who doped so hard his feet were still growing in his twenties?TomWasko said:I was in a Trek bike shop in Charlottesville, VA today and they had Ben King’s 2010 US Road Championship winning Trek. The winner the year before Ben was our own George Hincapie

Not for nothing, but feet definitely keep growing well after puberty. See: Michael Jordan infamously squeezing his feet into his original 14yo Air Jordans during his last visit to MSG:Jules said:You mean the guy who doped so hard his feet were still growing in his twenties?TomWasko said:I was in a Trek bike shop in Charlottesville, VA today and they had Ben King’s 2010 US Road Championship winning Trek. But back on topic, loving the livery on these bikes, so unabashedly logoed out.

Fair point, I've been on a hardcore pasta doping regiment for like 3 decades, and used to fit into a size 10.5 Reebok DMXs back in the year 2000. Now I'll be lucky if I can find a pair of size 11 New Balance trainers that properly fit my mutant feet.

I was rooting for Trentin.
The guy is up there all the time and doesn't seem to have much support in the finale. He was part of Quick-Step, but then moved on to Orica, where he was usually their only guy at the sharp end in one-day races. I was thinking he'd get a chance with CCC and riding with Van Avermaet, but Covid happened. And now with UAE, Kristoff doesn't seem to have the legs. Even his success at the Euro Champs and the Worlds (so close!) was when he was sharing leadership.

Agree , he gives so much every dam race and his post race interview was very classy , he also went up to Pidcock and said "good job boy"mugwump said:I was rooting for Trentin.

That being said Pidcock was real impressive in this race , taking it to the the field on the climbs and forcing the selection,

The Tour de Romandie is coming to my home town of Fribourg! A time trial around my local roads, starting and finishing a short walk from my door step. To think, back in the early 80’s I used to wait 2-3 months for a British cycling magazine to arrive at a local bike shop to learn who won the races, and now here are the best cyclists at my doorstep. It really makes me appreciate the moment. All over town we have these cool posters announcing the race.

By the way, I just looked more closely at the second photo, and check out the road these trendy guys are riding on. As Ritchey says, every bike is a gravel bike.

Never done fantasy cycling before. There’s always a first! I can say this: today a few pros were spotted in Fribourg checking out the course. On my way to physical therapy for my knee ((I’ll post about that at some point, it’s not good), I saw 3 riders from Bahrain Victorious on TT bikes and a follow car. Then my wife, while cycling to work, spotted a cyclist with rainbow bands on his sleeves. “Poser,” she thought. Then she saw the follow car. His jersey was mostly white, but no rainbow on his chest. Judging from the start list, my guess is that was Rui Costa

More! This first shot is right near where I saw Bahrain dudes. The hoodie my oldest son likes to wear, imagining it’s world champion stripes.

I don’t really know what to make of this lol. Nizzolos helmet has an airbrushed copy of the gov document he needed to continue cycling outdoors during covid restrictions.

I guess it's a statement?

Pretty good actually; "reason for travel" is "winning stages" between Turin & Milan
