@PatrickGrehan I wish! It's got its own atmosphere! Look at the bloody size of that thing!

It's a 64x15 (kind of like a 47x11, or close to a 52x12)

The bigger cog in back creates less friction.  I think he averaged around 37mph, so he was pedaling that gear at 110rpm.  It also might be why some pros are putting 56t rings on their TT bikes--so they can have a bit less friction when powering away on the flats.

This audio interview w/ Superman Lopez is in Spanish, with no subtitles..., he does not do a good job at explaining why exactly he dropped out "We are human, made of skin and bones, not machines" but his tone and how many times he apologizes makes it clear he realizes the major fuck up

Maybe he's taking lessons from Carlos Betancur.
Cycling is not different than other sports , the difference between good and great is often about the decisions you make in the high pressure moments

Because I have a teeny, tiny, tie to Carpenter--we're both alumni of the same small college--I've been paying attention to his career.

He's a specialist in long breakaways, so much that it seems to be what his sole place on the team is for.   Which made it surprising to see him going for intermediate sprints and KoM points at the Tour of Britain.

Being a specialist in the long bomb is kind of an amazing thing.  Especially as the exposure in Europe would seem to matter little to an American-based health-care company that would seem to need to advertise to businesses more than consumers.

Earlier this year, it seemed like he wasn't on Rally's squads for their Euro campaign.  I count ten race days before august.  When I saw he raced Unbound Gravel, I thought it was a sign that he was on his way out of the Rally team.

Happy to see him succeed.

Bit of a shame he won the day before the TTT as his time in the jersey was limited to about 25 minutes...
Tour of Britain hotness

I absolutely LOVE that the kid is on a CX bike. He knows where it's at.
the moment with the kid, on live tv. this stupid beautiful sport.

That kid and the break's reaction is the best thing I have seen in a while
Sucks that Eenkhoorn was immediately DQ’d and ejected from the race for not properly disposing of his bidon.
This story keeps getting better:

Young fan who 'led' Tour of Britain breakaway presented as Jumbo-Visma's additional rider ahead of final stage

The youngster went viral after his racing exploits during stage seven

Apparently his user name on social media is zanderpoel

admittedly, I haven’t listened to this at all yet. I’m not really sure I want to. But if anyone does and feels inclined to post a TLDR, feel free!
