Good to see that WvA is tapering for the road race.

I love these videos but the formula is the same for every one. Slow-mo meal prep, a voiceover while the camera pans across the terrain, etc.

What I find fascinating and frustrating is they actually reveal very little.

Maybe they see these as something that just plays in a chain of such videos on teh wall of a bike shop without sound.  If someone is in a bike shop, it looks kind of interesting, but you aren't interested and don't have the time to really pay attention.
Agree, Jules.

Your comment made me think about this... maybe at this point, I try to eek out some of the details or nuance, for example, what does it mean for an pro athlete to say "I wanna be the best cyclocross rider in the world" "we are all in" -- I also appreciate a certain level of self-awareness the video seems to suggest.

I can think of other pro riders that create content, that appear to lack self awareness in their posts. I maybe even keep a silly mental list of riders that are "retired but don't know it yet" -- ask me on a ride for names ;)

Tthese glossy expose's of people who have time to slow brew their coffee, hand pick their breakfast fruit and have a personal atelier for their bikes...  I think Eric Marcotte did the first one of this style but I can't seem to find it. I distinctly remember the shots of him hiking with his dog and his 5k DLSR...
admittedly, I haven’t listened to this at all yet. I’m not really sure I want to. But if anyone does and feels inclined to post a TLDR, feel free!

I decided to subject myself to it.

Both KFC and the host were working overtime to try to create a narrative in which it is impossible that she would even consider doping...it was the end of her career, she races because she wants to, she hadn't doped yet, it was before the season, her result sucked, she was going to end her career after getting 30th at the worlds, and more.  Oh, how is it that after over 20 years of false tests, she finally screwed this one up?

She also wants to suggest there might have been a conspiracy.  The group doing the testing in Europe is now ITA.  She claims she talked with them on Jan 26 about what she knew about doping in europe, naming riders and doctors and methods. She then claims that her sample was re-tested on that same day after the conversation.  And she finds that a too-odd coincidence.  at her pre-worlds doping test the tester said something about her being on their side, again, too-odd for her.

She blames the 'Beringer bottles'.  She blames tainted Costco beef she ate the night before.  She thinks the testers who did the B sample were just off the plane from Eastern Europe, could easily be bribed, and wanted her to leave the room.  She thinks the lab would be easy to tamper with.

She blames USADA, which she thinks leaves athletes in the dark.  She claims she doesn't understand what she tested positive for, and that's an example of USADA making it hard on athletes.

She is now becoming a nurse or nursing assistant.  in her praise of that work, she claims she couldn't remember the last time she enjoyed a bike race.

The host went back and forth from asking what might seem at first to be a 'tough' question to then being supportive of her.

If she wanted the public to think she was guilty, she did a pretty decent job.
Ouch. Glad you listened so I didn't have to. I love how one of the first defenses of dopers is always "it didn't even work." I think it sheds a lot of light on the mindset.

Jesus haha. The ol “the eastern block poisoned my cost co beef to make me look like a cheating cyclist to prevent me from exposing cheating in cycling” defense.
pro is pro.

Much less surprising, Kaitie Keough also announces her retirement:

~17:30 "I want to know where I'm not going to die."

I don't know if this can be programmed in, as there isn't a metric.  But I tend to believe this is a bigger issue for newer cyclists.  I know that I have some trepidation about following routes in areas I am not familiar with and this is one of the reasons.

It's also self-interest on my part.

~45:00 'power meter slumber party wakes up'.  I don't think there's really all that much going on, and I don't think there will be for a long time.  Too many patents are locked up by bigger companies.
Barcelona's Bici Bus:

I'm struggling to get a rack put in at my daughter's school. Once that happens, I can start to fantasize about a Bike Train.  And, if I ever get to that point, I can then give myself license to fantasize about a pack of kids riding to school.
