Signed up for HPCX in a few weekends. Anyone else racing?
We will all be there. I'd suggest you try another race or two before.

Come race Game Creek! It’s a small race in jersey. I have no idea what the course looks like but I’m assuming fields will be smaller due to Charm City. It’s on Sunday this weekend so you can come warm up in your fresh clean KCC champs kit. Also I think cat 5ers start late in all of the NJCX races, so you don’t have to get up at 4am.

I will see you there Robert.
just making sure I don't have any family obligations! The 5s are at 2:30 and its like a 2 hour drive. What time would you guys suggest getting there to preride the course and warm up?
about two hours before, Matt.
A few years ago, wrote these pre-race notes, for non elite races, some might find it helpful:

^ This is super helpful, thanks @eloy!!

Robert won the 4/5 at the Game Creek CX!!!
Raced the 5s at game creek for my first cx race. Ended up behind the leaders, so worked on making sure each lap i improved on the technical stuff.

There was an off camber almost sandy soft dirt corner that I couldn’t get for the life of me. I tried to go wide, I tried to cut tight it and by the last lap I got through it pretty well, which I was pretty stoked on.

Finished 7/12 so not great, but also not too bad. My heart rate hasn’t been pinned that higher probably ever.  want wait to keep sharpening those skills
I had a great day at Game Creek too! Fun to watch Thierry out there and chatting with Matt before his first race.

I was also super stoked to win the 18-rider cat 4 field! The course was very suited to me- 2 short ish but not scary technical features and then a bunch of fast fast fast grass with real smooth corners. For reference, us cat 4s averaged just under 14mph lol.

I feel like we’ve talked about how sometimes the best results come when the race prep is less than ideal. I got home kind of late Saturday night, had to get up super early for the race, had to stop for gas bc past me is a jerk and I didn’t really get the best pre ride/ warm up in. Thankfully (?) the start was relatively mellow by cross standards. This felt weird so I went to the front and apart from one stretch of a lap, led with my foot on the gas the rest of the way. Going into the final fast few corners, I was bracing for a sprint with the guy who had been on my wheel every lap. I was going full gas, waiting for him to make a move. As we went around the final corner with a dirt to gravel transition, he slid out, finished 3rd and I took the win sorta anticlimactically. Not the way I want to win but not crashing is def important so I’m not mad!

I think that gave me enough points for the cat 3s but I’m already reg’d for the 4s at HPCX so I’ll do that before putting in the request.

Also racing early is tough because none of your bros are there to snap pics. But I did get a podium pic with my bag of coffee. Beautifully I ran out of coffee while making some this morning! 🥲🙏

I’m glad the stink bugs were appropriately repped in the photos- they were everywhere!
those are the lantern flies that we're supposed to kill on sight, right? i was worried of choking to death on one at whirlybird.
those are those are stink bugs but the lantern flies were also all over the place. Almost brought one home but we found it at wawa
Congrats, Rob. So much hotness.
Awesome Rob - congrats.
Rob, Congrats on the win!

Looking forward to HPCX.
If anyone's going to Crossasaurus on the 10th I'd most likely be up for it. Then Cooper River, then Northampton. Who's going?

Crossasaurus is getting higher on my yes let's go race bikes list, the charm hangover is real.
Not  a big race , but still impressive , Zoe Backstedt finished 2nd to Sanne Cant at Ethias Cross
Great race Rob!

Congrats Rob

I heard about Game Creek when I ran into Thierry at a NJ rest stop. Cool that we were represented
I think this needs to be discussed...

Like how much hotness is the new CruX bike??

Congratulations Rob!
So I'm finally registered for one of the few CX races I can pull off this year. I'm going to Belltown CX (CT) on Sunday the 24th. Also of note this will be Amy's first CX race too. More excited for her than me.

I signed up for the Masters 40+ 1/2/3/4, AND the Men 4. Figure if I'm taking a day might as well make the most of it.

Amy and I plan on taking the ferry from Port Jefferson to make the travel burden more bearable.
